In this video, I demonstrate the functional evaluation test that assesses the cardiovascular system.
The Left Thenar Pad is a test for the cardiovascular system. It is a quick check that you can perform without any equipment. It is very similar to the pancreas Right Thenar Pad test, only on the left hand.
A functional evaluation involves a series of non-invasive tests that uses three different types of reflexes to determine the health of a particular organ or system in the body. For more information about functional evaluation tests, see my article DIY Functional Evaluation Tests for Wellness.
Your body can tell you when something is wrong. That’s what symptoms are all about. In today’s hectic world, sadly, we have become disconnected with our bodies’ innate ability to communicate what it needs.
This functional evaluation tool, however, helps us to reconnect to that innate communication ability.
Let your body tell you what’s wrong. It will, if you let it.
These non-invasive tests allow the body to tell US where it is out of balance.
Remember that these tests are not meant to replace the battery of sophisticated lab tests that can and should be done to assess your health. It’s only an additional tool for your use.
Cardiovascular Diseases are Diseases of Inflammation
Cardiovascular issues are typically diseases of inflammation.
Inflammation is one of those tricky symptoms that sneaks up on you until one day pain or some other outward symptoms appear to come out of nowhere.
Inflammation has many causes.
For example, with high blood pressure (hypertension), the underlying causes can be many and multiple:
- Kidney function/hydration
- Adrenal dysfunction
- Sugar handling imbalances
- Mineral deficiencies or overloads
- Fatty Acid imbalance
- Food sensitivities
- Thyroid problems
- Emotional issues
- Structural problems
- Circulatory issues (arteriosclerosis or atherosclerosis)
- Lack of exercise
One by one, these foundational areas should be checked and ruled out as the cause of your high blood pressure. HBP is just one example of cardiovascular dysfunction.
The Left Thenar Pad Test
A quick test of the cardiovascular system can be done using your left hand.
Here’s how to do the Left Thenar Pad test:
- On the palm of your left hand, locate the fatty part at the base of your thumb.
- Draw an imaginary circle around that pad.
- Find the slight indentation in that circle and probe deeply with your other thumb.
Did you feel any pain or tenderness? Rate it on a scale from 1-10. One, meaning I feel the pressure of my thumb but no pain all the way up to 10, meaning it really hurts.
Be sure to record your tenderness rating and today’s date so that we can monitor your progress.
Can an unhealthy cardiovascular system cause mood disorders? You bet. Because cardiovascular issues have inflammation at their root, emotional disorders go hand in hand with cardiovascular disorders.
The left thenar pad test is an excellent tool to help you get to the root of your moods.
